The Old Jewish Quarter
Did you know that one of the oldest synagogues in Europe is the one in Dubrovnik?
Jews came in Dubrovnik in the 15 th century and made an important cultural contribution to The Golden Age and the development of the Republic.
This walk provides an opportunity to understand Jewish life in Dubrovnik and how that has changed since the days of the Republic.
The walk starts in front of Onofrio’s Fountain and it goes along Stradun, the main street, to Žudioska Street where the ghetto once was. Here, in this street, you will visit the famous Synagogue established in the 15th century, re-built in 1652 and still in use today.
